Video Editor – UGC & Direct Response Ads About the Role
Our client is looking for a talented Video Editor who knows how to turn raw creator footage into clear, engaging, fast-moving social ads that feel natural, authentic, and believable.
You’ll work primarily with UGC and creator footage, shaping it into high-performing direct-response ads without losing the creator’s personality or making the content feel overly polished or “ad-like.”
The ideal editor understands hook development, pacing, storytelling, retention, and direct-response creative and knows how to make relatively simple footage feel compelling.
What You’ll Do Edit creator/UGC footage into engaging 20–45 second direct-response social ads Preserve each creator’s natural voice, personality, and delivery Improve hooks, pacing, clarity, structure, and product storytelling Create edits that feel native to platforms like TikTok, Instagram Reels, and other short-form channels Use cuts, captions, zooms, B-roll, sound effects, music, and other editing techniques strategically to maintain attention Identify the strongest moments in raw footage and build a clear story around them Keep each ad focused around one clear idea or selling point Combine footage from different creators when it strengthens the story and improves the final creative Develop multiple creative variations from the same source footage Make creative decisions based on what will capture attention and communicate the product quickly Deliverables Per Creative
For each creator footage package, you’ll be expected to produce:
One complete direct-response edit 20–45 seconds Fully edited and ready for social Three alternate opening hooks Different opening angles designed to lead into the same main edit Focused on improving the first few seconds and capturing attention One alternate cut A different pacing, structure, or storytelling angle Should feel meaningfully different from the main version What We’re Looking For Strong experience editing UGC, TikTok, Reels, or paid social ads Understanding of direct-response advertising and what makes people stop scrolling Strong instinct for hooks, pacing, retention, and storytelling Ability to make content feel authentic rather than overly produced Strong attention to detail Ability to work quickly and turn around multiple creative variations Good understanding of short-form social content Ability to take raw, sometimes imperfect creator footage and turn it into a compelling story Strong creative judgment and willingness to experiment with different angles Bonus Points Experience editing ads for DTC/e-commerce brands Experience working with performance marketing or creative teams Understanding of Meta and TikTok ad creative Experience creating multiple variations for testing Familiarity with performance-driven creative and analyzing what makes an ad effective The Ideal Editor
You’re not just someone who knows how to use Premiere Pro, CapCut, Final Cut, or another editing tool.
You understand why an edit works.
You know when to cut, when to let a creator breathe, how to strengthen a weak opening, and how to make a product story feel natural while still driving action.
Most importantly, you know how to make an ad feel like content people actually want to watch, not something that immediately feels like an advertisement.
Must-Have Skills
Strong experience editing UGC, TikTok, Reels, or paid social ads with understanding of direct-response advertising, hooks, pacing, retention, and storytelling.
Nice-to-Have
Experience editing ads for DTC/e-commerce brands, working with performance marketing or creative teams, understanding of Meta and TikTok ad creative, and experience creating multiple variations for testing.
