  • Document details such as materials, material usage, costs, dimensions, construction methods, foam densities, and design specifications.
  • Support product development from initial concept through prototypes and production samples.
  • Review products and specifications to identify opportunities to improve quality, functionality, durability, and customer satisfaction.
  • Work directly with overseas manufacturing partners to communicate specifications, resolve product issues, and maintain quality standards.
  • Keep product documentation accurate and up to date as products evolve.
  • Help establish more consistent systems and processes for product specifications and technical documentation.
  • Participate in factory visits, trade shows, and other product-related travel as needed.

Must-Have Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design, Furniture Design, Product Design, or a related field, or equivalent relevant education and experience.
  • Strong attention to detail and genuine interest in manufacturing and product construction.
  • Ability to understand and communicate technical product information clearly.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage detailed product documentation.
  • Comfortable working with drawings, measurements, specifications, and material information.
  • Ability to collaborate with designers, manufacturers, and other stakeholders.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% domestically and internationally for factory visits, trade shows, and product development activities.

Nice-to-Have

  • Experience with furniture, upholstery, fabrics, pillows, foam, or other soft goods.
  • Experience working with DTC or furniture brands.
  • Familiarity with BOMs, product specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Exposure to manufacturing or supplier coordination.
  • Experience taking products from concept or prototype through production.

Tools & Tech Stack

  • CAD software such as Fusion 360, SolidWorks, or similar.
  • Technical drawing and documentation tools.
  • BOM or product information management systems.
  • File organization and documentation platforms.
