About the Role
About the Company Our client is a venture capital fund, part of an ecosystem of connected businesses built by a serial entrepreneur and investor that also includes a fast-growing creative operations company and an award-winning lifestyle brand where the founder serves as Co-CEO.
From first check to IPO, the fund backs the world's TAM creators: founders inventing new markets and building enduring companies that define the next era. The fund is the definition of high agency, backing founders who build new markets rather than sell into existing ones. The team isn't afraid of the unknown; they're drawn to it, guided by hard-earned experience, razor-sharp instincts, and trust built over decades. Their founders see them as part of their larger brain trust, the partners they call with the problems that keep them up at night. The fund follows a focused, two-pronged investment strategy: backing high-growth companies approaching scale while taking early, conviction-driven positions in the next generation of category-defining founders.
This is a fast-moving, dynamic team that values collaboration, inclusion, and a strong culture: diverse, young, and energetic, with most of the team in their 30s and 40s. They need someone who thrives in a startup environment, understands American business culture, and values respect, teamwork, and open communication.
About You You operate with sharp analytical instincts and genuine investment judgment. You read a market, a deal, or an LP conversation quickly, and you form a point of view rather than just assembling data. You're equally comfortable diving into a diligence sprint and stepping back to write the memo that tells the Principal what it all means.
You are AI-fluent, using Claude and ChatGPT to accelerate research, drafting, and analysis, but your writing carries your own judgment, not a summary of someone else's. With strong written and verbal communication, you move between LPs, founders, and internal stakeholders in the same day without losing precision in either direction.
Who You Are
- Founder-mode operator: high agency, high EQ, razor-sharp instincts, and an ability to read the room and act before being asked.
- Context-switcher: comfortable moving between fundraising materials, LP communications, and diligence work in the same day, without losing focus or dropping a thread.
- Exceptional communicator: you write clearly, warmly, and precisely, adapting register depending on whether the reader is an LP, a founder, or an internal stakeholder.
- Operational powerhouse: you drive structure, efficiency, and accountability in fast-moving, complex environments.
- AI-native and no-code fluent: proficient with Claude and ChatGPT for research, drafting, and analysis; you use AI to move faster without losing your own judgment or point of view; you maintain your own Notion dashboards, plugins, and AI agents, and build no-code/AI automations and workflows that give leverage.
- Killer at Notion: you build and maintain Notion boards, databases, and trackers that organize relationships, projects, and priorities across the business.
Sharp writer and researcher: you produce clean, efficient memos, updates, and diligence work that get straight to the point, no fluff.
- Builder, not just a user: you treat AI as an operating system, testing new tools and agents, folding the useful ones into daily workflows, and documenting what works so others can run with it.
- Forms opinions, not just data: you don't just assemble research; you tell the reader what it means and what you'd do about it.
- Financially and operationally fluent: comfortable with term sheets, diligence, cap tables, and budgets, not just calendars and correspondence.
- A finisher: you own things through to completion and can point to what shipped, not what's in progress.
- Highly collaborative with a good sense of humor: you don't take things personally, and you stay warm, steady, and easy to work with under pressure.
- Highly trustworthy and discreet: you'll handle sensitive information and critical relationships.
How You Operate
- You track everything. No follow-up, no commitment, no document request falls through the cracks.
- You move between analytical and relational work in the same day without losing quality in either: a diligence call in the morning, an LP update in the afternoon.
- You communicate early and often. Proactive updates are the default, not the exception.
- You're direct, warm, and honest. You don't avoid hard conversations, and you're never passive-aggressive.
- You handle direct communication well. You say what you mean, and you don't get rattled when others do the same.
- You assume good intent and offer people the benefit of the doubt, and expect the same in return.
- This is a high-trust, high-intensity partnership, closer in rhythm to a co-founder relationship than a standard 9-to-5. Expect real-time check-ins on weekends and off-hours when things are moving. If you need a strictly bounded schedule, this isn't the role.
- You know when to escalate to the Principal and when to facilitate flow, and you understand that small gestures, done right, build long-term trust and relationship equity.
About the Role The fund backs the world's TAM creators: founders inventing new markets and building enduring companies. It runs a focused, two-pronged strategy, backing high-growth companies approaching scale while taking early, conviction-driven positions in the next generation of category-defining founders.
This role supports the fund across two fronts. First, capital formation: preparing materials, tracking LP conversations, and writing the communications that move a raise forward. Second, investment work: research, market mapping, diligence support, and the analysis behind conviction.
Writing is not a secondary skill in this role. A meaningful share of the work is written: LP updates, recap and follow-up emails, memos, newsletters, and fund materials. Investors here expect a client-service standard of communication, and this role delivers it.
Key Responsibilities
- Fundraising & LP Support
- Support active fundraising workstreams, from materials preparation through follow-up.
- Draft LP updates, recap emails, follow-up notes, and outreach communications.
- Maintain LP pipeline tracking and keep records current after every meeting.
- Prepare briefing materials and background research ahead of LP conversations.
- Support the development of fund decks, one-pagers, and data room materials.
- Contribute to fund newsletters and outward-facing communications.
- Investment Research & Diligence
- Develop market maps, thematic research, and investment theses across target sectors.
- Conduct primary research through calls with operators, customers, and industry experts.
- Support quantitative and qualitative diligence: market sizing, competitive benchmarking, financial analysis.
- Contribute to investment memos and materials for internal decision-making.
- Track deal flow, co-investor activity, and market momentum.
- Maintain research libraries and diligence documentation.
- Deal Support
- Support deal execution workstreams alongside the Principal.
- Assist with diligence coordination, data requests, and document tracking.
- Build working familiarity with term sheets, cap tables, and governance documents.
- Keep deal materials current and accessible across the team.
- Written Communication
- Write clear, warm, polished communications that adapt tone to the audience.
- Turn meetings and conversations into accurate, useful written recaps.
- Draft materials that go directly to LPs, founders, and co-investors with minimal editing.
- Support fund communications that require a marketing sensibility, not only an analytical one.
What This Role Is Not
- Not a Principal or investment decision maker. You support conviction; you do not set it.
- Not a standalone copywriter. Writing is embedded in the role, not the whole role.
- Not an operations or systems role.
- Not an executive assistant.
- Not a marketing coordinator. Content and social work sits elsewhere.

90 Days
- Owns LP tracking and follow-up end to end; nothing pending, nothing missed.

- Multiple research pieces delivered, with a clear point of view each.
- Diligence support delivered on live opportunities, including primary research calls.
- Written work reaches LPs and founders with editing that is optional, not required.
- Trusted to draft in the fund's voice without a review cycle on routine communications.
- Research and documentation workflows fully owned.
Application Requirement
- Submit two writing samples: one analytical piece such as a memo, thesis, or research note, and one relationship-facing piece such as an LP update, recap email, or investor communication. Writing samples carry significant weight in this process.
Must-Have Skills
- 2-3 years of relevant experience in venture capital, investment banking, startup ops/strategy, consulting, or founder's office roles.
- Direct exposure to fundraising, investor relations, or LP communications.
- Exceptional written English. This is a primary filter. You write clearly, warmly, and precisely, and you adapt register depending on whether the reader is an LP, a founder, or an internal stakeholder.
- Strong verbal communication. You are credible on calls with senior investors and operators.
- Solid analytical foundation: financial modeling, market sizing, competitive analysis, and comfort with accounting fundamentals.
- Working familiarity with term sheets, cap tables, and diligence processes.
- Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and Google Workspace.
- AI fluency with Claude and ChatGPT for research, drafting, and analysis. No coding required.
- Comfortable working with US-based teams and American business culture.
- Organized, autonomous, and able to hold multiple work streams without dropping threads.
Nice-to-Have
- Experience supporting an active fund raise.
- Some marketing or copywriting strength, enough to contribute to newsletters and outward-facing fund communications.
- Consumer, media, or brand sector exposure.
- Bachelor's degree in business, finance, economics, or a related field.
- What Sets the Right Candidate Apart
- You write like someone who has sat across from an LP. Your emails are warm without being soft, and precise without being cold.
- You have already worked inside a fund. You know what a data room looks like, what a diligence sprint feels like, and what breaks when a raise gets busy.
- You form opinions. You do not just assemble data; you tell the reader what it means and what you would do.
- You track everything. Nothing falls through: not a follow-up, not a commitment, not a document request.
- You move between analytical and relational work in the same day without losing quality in either.
Tools & Tech Stack
- Claude and ChatGPT for research and analysis, Notion for dashboards and tracking, Excel and PowerPoint for financial modeling and presentations, Google Workspace for collaboration, and familiarity with data room and diligence documentation systems.
