Controller (E-commerce)

About the Role:

We're looking for an experienced Controller to take ownership of our accounting and financial operations from end to end. This is a hands-on role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced e-commerce environment and can bring accuracy, efficiency, and strategic insight to our financial reporting.

You'll own the accounting function, lead the monthly close process, and ensure our financials provide leadership with timely, actionable insights. Beyond maintaining the books, you'll proactively improve reporting, streamline processes, and help the business make smarter financial decisions.

What You'll Do:

*Own the company's accounting operations from start to finish using QuickBooks Online.

*Lead and continuously improve the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes, reducing close timelines while increasing accuracy.

*Manage general ledger, account reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, and financial statement preparation.

*Oversee inventory accounting, cost of goods sold (COGS), and inventory reconciliations.

*Reconcile and report revenue across multiple sales channels, including Shopify, Amazon US, Amazon Canada, and wholesale.

*Ensure financial reporting is accurate, timely, and aligned with business objectives. Develop and enhance financial reporting dashboards and provide proactive insights to leadership.

*Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, and operational efficiency.

*Partner with cross-functional teams to support budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning.

*Assist with audits, tax preparation, and compliance requirements. Maintain strong internal controls and ensure adherence to accounting best practices.

Must-Have Qualifications:

*Proven experience as a Controller or senior accounting leader within an e-commerce business, ideally supporting an 8+ figure revenue company.

*Extensive experience using QuickBooks Online to manage accounting operations. Strong understanding of:

*Inventory accounting

*Cost of Goods Sold (COGS)

*Multi-channel revenue recognition

-Shopify -Amazon US and Canada -Wholesale accounting

*Demonstrated success owning and improving the monthly close process, with a track record of shortening close timelines while improving financial accuracy.

*Highly proactive, with the ability to identify reporting needs and recommend improvements without being prompted.

*Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

*Excellent attention to detail and commitment to financial accuracy.

Nice-to-Have Qualifications:

*Experience with import accounting, tariffs, HTS codes, and international product costing.

*Familiarity with inventory management and ERP systems.

*Experience supporting high-growth, consumer product or DTC brands.

*CPA or equivalent accounting qualification.

• Controller or senior accounting leader with 5+ years in e-commerce, proven expertise in QuickBooks Online, inventory accounting, COGS, multi-channel revenue recognition (Shopify, Amazon US/Canada, wholesale), and a track record of optimizing monthly close processes for 8+ figure revenue companies.

• CPA certification, experience with import accounting/tariffs/HTS codes, familiarity with inventory management or ERP systems, and background supporting high-growth DTC or consumer product brands.

• QuickBooks Online, Shopify, Amazon Seller Central (US and Canada), and standard accounting/financial reporting software.
