THE ROLE

This is a builder's role. You'll construct and maintain the product side of our site, including categories, collections, product pages, and the whole catalog, and then find creative ways to present it.

In this category, customers are buying a look they can't fully picture yet. Good merchandising is what closes that gap: how products get grouped, what collections exist, which pairings get surfaced, how a slab of porcelain tile gets presented so someone can see it in their bathroom. That's your job.

To be clear about scope: this is not a growth or conversion optimization role. We're not hiring you to run A/B tests or own a funnel. We're hiring you to build and maintain a large catalog well, and to keep coming up with new ways to merchandise it.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Build and maintain
• Own the catalog structure: categories, subcategories, taxonomy, filters, and how products are organized.
• Build out new products and collections, including attributes, variants, imagery, specs, and copy.
• Onboard new vendors and product lines into the catalog.
• Keep the catalog clean at scale, with accurate data, correct variants, consistent naming, and no broken or orphaned products.
• Maintain the systems and conventions that keep a catalog this size from degrading over time.
• Merchandise creatively.
• Invent new ways to cut the catalog: curated collections, style-driven edits, room-based shops, “complete the look” pairings, project bundles.
• Build seasonal and thematic merchandising moments.
• Decide what leads a category page and what sequence products appear in.
• Surface products that deserve attention and would otherwise stay buried
• Bring ideas we haven't asked for. The best work in this role won't come from a ticket

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Required

• Experience merchandising catalogs with high SKU counts, in the thousands to tens of thousands.
• You've dealt with the taxonomy, data quality, and organization problems that come with scale.
• Hands-on Shopify Plus experience: collections, metafields, variants, bulk product operations, and the admin generally.
• AI native. You reach for AI tools by default and have built real workflows with them, whether that's catalog enrichment, tagging, copy drafting, or image QA, not just experimented.
• High taste level. You have opinions about how products should be presented and can articulate why.
• Exceptional attention to detail. In a catalog this size, small errors compound fast and quietly.
• Resourceful and self-directed. Comfortable in a startup where the process doesn't exist yet and you're the one who writes it.
• Able to work Pacific hours

Nice to have

• Experience in building materials, home improvement, furniture, or an adjacent category
• Design skills: Figma, Canva, basic image editing, or the ability to mock up what you're proposing
• Familiarity with PIM systems, bulk data tooling, or light scripting (SQL, Python, Liquid)

WHY THIS ROLE

You'll have unusual ownership. You propose a collection, you build it, it's live. No five layers of approval, no waiting on a dev queue for every change. If you've been merchandising inside someone else's rigid system and want to build one yourself, this is that job.

• 5+ years merchandising high-SKU catalogs (thousands to tens of thousands) with hands-on Shopify Plus expertise, proven AI workflow implementation, exceptional attention to detail, strong design taste, and ability to work Pacific hours.

• Background in building materials, home improvement, or furniture categories; design skills in Figma, Canva, or image editing; familiarity with PIM systems, bulk data tools, SQL, Python, or Liquid.

• Shopify Plus (collections, metafields, variants, bulk operations), AI tools for catalog enrichment and workflows, and product data management systems at scale.
