VP of Finance/Head of Finance

The VP of Finance / Head of Finance is responsible for leading the company’s financial strategy, operational finance, and overall financial performance. This role partners closely with executive leadership to drive profitable growth, optimize EBITDA, improve cash flow and working capital, strengthen financial reporting, and build scalable financial processes. The position combines strategic finance leadership with hands-on operational oversight across budgeting, forecasting, inventory, banking, supplier management, and financial planning.

Responsibilities:

• Own the company’s financial strategy, planning, budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial roadmap.
• Develop financial models to support strategic business decisions and growth initiatives.
• Partner with executive leadership to evaluate investments, business opportunities, and financial risks.
• Build scalable financial processes to support business growth.
• Manage profitability across multiple sales channels through detailed P&L ownership and contribution margin analysis.
• Develop financial dashboards and KPIs that provide visibility into business performance.
• Identify opportunities to improve gross margins, operational efficiency, and EBITDA.
• Lead monthly budget reviews, variance analysis, and financial performance meetings.
• Implement cost control initiatives and establish financial accountability across departments.
• Partner with Supply Chain and Operations to optimize inventory, working capital, and cash conversion.
• Oversee cash flow management, inventory health, and purchasing decisions.
• Manage banking relationships, lender reporting, debt facilities, and financing initiatives.
• Lead supplier payment term negotiations and support commercial financial decision-making.
• Oversee monthly close, financial reporting, forecasting accuracy, and internal controls.
• Coordinate with external accountants, auditors, and tax advisors.
• Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing finance team.
• Establish financial KPIs and drive accountability across the organization.

• SAICA-qualified Chartered Accountant (CA(SA)) or equivalent professional accounting designation.
• 7+ years of progressive finance leadership experience.
• Experience in CPG, eCommerce, DTC, retail, manufacturing, or other inventory-heavy businesses.
• Strong expertise in inventory accounting, contribution margin analysis, and working capital management.
• Proven experience owning company budgets, financial planning, forecasting, and strategic finance.
• Strong understanding of EBITDA optimization and operational finance.
• Experience managing lender reporting, banking relationships, and debt facilities.
• Advanced financial modeling, analytical, and business partnering skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Availability to work overlapping North American business hours.

• Experience supporting high-growth consumer brands.
• Experience managing finance for omnichannel businesses (Shopify, Amazon, Retail, Wholesale).
• Experience negotiating supplier contracts and payment terms.
• Experience with ERP systems such as NetSuite, QuickBooks, or similar platforms.
• Experience building financial dashboards and KPI reporting frameworks.
• Experience leading and managing remote finance teams.
