We’re helping our client find a Merchandise Planner to own the financial planning and inventory strategy for Seasonal Box and Monthly Beauty Box businesses. Responsibilities:
- Own end-to-end financial planning and inventory strategy for the Seasonal Box and Monthly Beauty Box– managing pre-season plans, in-season OTB, and post-season recaps across both businesses
- Monitor weekly inventory performance and address inventory concerns, partnering with Ops, Site Merch, Warehouse, and Marketing on depletion strategies
- Navigate the operational complexity of subscription box execution — including coordination across fulfillment, marketing, and site teams on tasks that sit outside traditional planning scope, but are critical to box success
- Partner with Buying and Merch Strategy on assortment and category decisions, bringing a financial and inventory lens to pre-season planning conversations
- Maintain planning files and systems to support the Merch Strategy and total Planning teams, holding a high bar for accuracy, consistency, and process improvement
- Support Merchandising team and cross-functional partners with analysis and business decisions as needed
Must-Have Skills
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, with 4+ years of experience in Merchandise Planning and/or Buying.
- Strong Excel skills required; experience with planning or inventory systems preferred.
- Deep proficiency in retail math, OTB management, and inventory planning, with demonstrated ability to manage sales, margin, and inventory targets and reconcile plans to actuals in-season.
- Proven ability to collaborate cross-functionally with Finance, Ops, Buyers, Warehouse, and Marketing.
- Proactive problem-solver who can identify risks (sellout, excess, product expiration) and develop solutions independently, escalating as needed.
- Comfort operating in a non-traditional planning environment where execution across cross-functional teams is fast paced and extends beyond the playbook of a traditional planning role
Nice-to-Have
- Exceptional organization and accuracy across concurrent workstreams, with a bias toward process improvement and building systems that scale
- Demonstrated fluency with modern AI tools (e.g. ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini) and the ability to apply them practically, for data synthesis, market research, workflow acceleration, and business analysis
Tools & Tech Stack
- Excel/Google Sheets (advanced), planning and inventory systems, and financial planning/forecasting software.
