About the Role

Job Title: Inventory Accountant Type: Full-time; Remote Industry: Home and Kitchen

The Inventory Accountant is a critical member of the Finance & Accounting team, owning the end-to-end accuracy of inventory records, cost data, and related accounting across all entities. This role requires someone equally comfortable working in the details of a bill of materials as they are preparing journal entries and variance analyses for month-end close. The ideal candidate brings deep experience in product cost accounting within a multi-entity, multi-warehouse DTC or consumer goods environment and is comfortable operating independently across time zones.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

*Inventory Management & Valuation* • Maintain accurate inventory records across all 7 global warehouse locations (US, UK, AUS, EU, and CA entities)

• Perform perpetual inventory reconciliations and investigate/resolve discrepancies between system quantities and physical counts

• Maintain inventory subledger integrity in ERP and reconcile to general ledger balances

• Maintain and update standard costs for all finished goods and purchased components across all entities on a quarterly basis

• Prepare and post monthly inventory-related journal entries across all entities (receipts, COGS,reserves, adjustments, intercompany eliminations)

• Perform month-end inventory roll-forward and reconcile ending balances to the general ledger

• Prepare balance sheet reconciliations for all inventory-related accounts monthly across global warehouses

• Support intercompany inventory eliminations and markup eliminations as part of consolidated close

• Reconcile purchase orders, goods receipts, and supplier invoices (3-way match)

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required

• 2-4 years of accounting experience, with at least 1 year in inventory / cost accounting within a product-based company

• Demonstrated experience performing month-end close responsibilities including journal entries, reconciliations, and management reporting

• Hands-on experience with multi-warehouse and multi-entity inventory accounting structures

• Strong command of Excel for data manipulation, reconciliation, and analysis Preferred Experience

• Experience at a DTC, e-commerce, or consumer goods company with a physical product catalog

• Experience with 3PL-managed warehouses and reconciling WMS data to ERP inventory records

• Exposure to intercompany accounting across multiple legal entities (US, UK, AUS, EU)

• Exposure to new AI automated flows in the inventory management space

Must-Have Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 2–4 years of accounting experience, including at least 1 year in inventory or cost accounting
  • Experience working in a product-based, consumer goods, DTC, or e-commerce company
  • Hands-on experience with month-end close activities including journal entries, reconciliations, and reporting
  • Strong understanding of inventory accounting, inventory valuation, COGS, and standard costing
  • Experience managing multi-warehouse and multi-entity inventory accounting environments
  • Proficiency with ERP systems and reconciling inventory subledgers to the general ledger
  • Advanced Excel skills for data analysis, reconciliations, and inventory reporting
