About the Role

Tech Lead

Role type: Full-time, fully remote Timezone: CET ±2 hour Reports to: Co-founder, Marketing Works closely with: E-commerce Manager, Financial Controller, App Developer, Design Partner

ABOUT KADDEY Kaddey is a premium golf brand founded in Amsterdam in 2020, built by golfers who believed the game deserved better gear. We design our own trolleys, bags, and accessories — a modular ecosystem where every product connects. Dutch design heritage, uncompromising quality, a genuine passion for the game. Five years of building has earned us 30,000+ customers across Europe and a 4.7/5 Trustpilot rating.

Now we’re accelerating. The Switch-E, our intelligent electric trolley, launches in 2026. US market expansion follows in 2027. And we’re evolving the brand beyond the course — into new product categories for the design-minded player whose game takes them across cities, countries, and continents. Play anywhere.

This is a lean, ambitious team that holds itself to a high standard and moves fast. Joining now means joining at the moment of acceleration — with real ownership, direct impact, and the chance to help build something that’s just getting started.

THE ROLE The Kaddey tech stack is the operational backbone of everything the brand does commercially. It handles a global premium DTC business, multilingual storefronts across four languages, multi-currency transactions, customer experience, finance integrations, and a growing product ecosystem. This role owns all of it.

This is a technical operations lead who also develops. Own the entire e-commerce and operations stack — know what every tool does, how they connect, whether each is the right choice, and keep the whole system performing at the standard a premium brand requires. Some days that means writing Liquid, debugging an integration, or building a data pipeline. Other days it means briefing a contract developer, reviewing a design partner’s output, or recommending whether to build or buy. Knowing when to do it yourself and when to bring in a specialist is core to the job.

A major near-term project is the evolution of the Kaddey Shopify store from a tweaked premium theme to a fully custom design. This role leads that development end-to-end in collaboration with an external design partner — from design handoff to live site.

You’ll own the technical backbone of a brand going global — architecting the stack that supports new markets, new categories, and a custom site that has to match the premium standard of everything else Kaddey builds.

SCREENING GUIDANCE Qualifying questions Walk us through a Shopify Plus stack you’ve owned — what tools were connected and what was the hardest technical problem you solved? How have you handled multilingual and multi-currency storefronts on Shopify Markets? What edge cases have you hit? How do you manage product feeds across Google, Meta, and other channels? What breaks most often? How do you decide whether to build, buy, or integrate? Give a real example. Candidate assignment Allow 48 hours. Expected time: 90 minutes.

Part 1 — Stack audit We’ll share a brief overview of our current tech stack. Identify the three most likely integration or performance risks and explain how you’d investigate and address each.

Part 2 — International storefront scenario We’re launching a German-language storefront within Shopify Markets. Walk us through the technical setup: language routing, currency, checkout, SEO, and any edge cases you’d flag before going live.

Part 3 — Technical decision We’re evaluating whether to stay on our current tweaked premium theme or invest in a fully custom build. What questions would you ask to make that recommendation for a premium DTC brand?

↳ Look for: systems thinking over feature knowledge; someone who asks the right questions before deciding. ↳ The Shopify Markets question is the strongest filter — real experience produces specific, hard-won opinions. Generic answers signal limited real-world experience.
